Application 1: Comet Assey
DNA which is damaged by radiation can be rebuilt by the repair mechanism of the cell. Severe diseases may result if this mechanism does not work properly. The only technique for direct testing is gel electrophoresis (COMET-assay) which shows the migration of DNA fragments among gel fibres. We created a complex stochastic model for this process and estimated relevant parameters from simulations of the model.
